Afshin is a registered patent agent with several years of experience in patent prosecution. Educated in Electrical/Materials Engineering (Interdisciplinary program, Ph.D.), he has worked on a wide range of technologies including semiconductors design and manufacturing; electronics science art, materials and chemical science art; computer hardware; and nanotechnology.
His skills and experience as a scientist span technology areas including fabrication and characterization of nano-sensors, semiconductors, spin transistors, low and high frequency materials, permanent magnets, 3D nanostructure design, medical devices, electrochemistry and electrochemical systems and methods. He has experience working on giant magneto-resistance effect in nanotubes and nanowires and their application as sensors and in micro-electro-mechanical systems.
Afshin wrote his dissertation on design, synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanostructures and their applications in semiconductor devices, recording media, power generation as well as renewable source of energy and biomedical applications. His work, as a postdoctoral associate, at the center for microwave magnetic materials and integrated circuits at Northeastern University, focused on fabrication of ultra-high density electro- and magneto-ceramics and magnetic-field directed self-assembly of nanostructures.
